Writing Your Specification

Now you have completed your thorough research, it is time to construct your specification based on the research you have completed.  The specification MUST be specific and highlight where you have found the information in your research.  Use the headings shown on the examples below and hyperlink to the slide where the information can be found.
It is key for you to explain the information, therefore use connectives in the construction of your explanation.  Remember in needs to be specific!

Materials Research

The final piece of research that is required is the materials research.  You need to identify the materials that are either named by your client or what is predominantly used in the existing products research.

Environment Research

To display a thorough understanding of the environment in which your design will be positioned/used you are required to analyse the following factors;
What are the colour schemes in the room.
What are the predominant materials used.
What will the product be placed/screwed on.
What size is the space.

Researching the Specifics

To complete the research section you simply need to ensure that your product fits it's purpose and also compliments its environment.
You need to consider the function of your product.  An example maybe that if you are designing a piece of furniture you will need to understand the ANTHROPOMETRIC DATA.  If you are designing a storage device then you will need to know the measurements of what is being stored and how many in total.
Remember that the information you collate will inform your specification, and therefore your design will be made at those measurements.  This needs to be accurate because the finished size will need to fit the purpose.

Welcome to the GCSE PD 3D Blog

The initial 5 slides for your coursework should contain similar content to the ones shown below.  Remember that the content MUST reflect your design task.
Click on the slides to retrieve the powerpoint.
Remember that you need to conclude each slide saying how the slide has assisted your design process.
The first example below shows a portfolio that is based around a designer's work
